Representing Michigan State University, Heath Baldwin will be competing in the decathlon at the 2024 Paris Olympics. A native of Kalamazoo, Michigan, Heath attended Hackett Catholic Prep High School, where he excelled in multiple sports, including baseball, football, and basketball, before focusing on track and field. He initially attended the University of Michigan but transferred to Michigan State University after his sophomore year.

In April 2024, Heath delivered a historic performance in the decathlon, scoring 8,470 points. This achievement placed him as the U.S. No. 1, World No. 3, and seventh-best all-time in NCAA history. His score also set four personal records, two school records for MSU, and a conference record.


At the U.S. Olympic Trials in June 2024, Heath further improved his performance, totaling a personal-best 8,625 points to finish first in a field of 19 athletes. His victory secured his spot on the U.S. Olympic Team.

Heath’s accolades include being named the 2023 MSU George Alderton Male Athlete of the Year. He is set to begin his Olympic journey on August 2, 2024.

Outside of athletics, Heath is known for his dedication to his studies and his involvement in community service. He is pursuing a degree in Kinesiology and has participated in various outreach programs to inspire young athletes.
