On Air – Dana Lundon
Dana Lundon was bitten by the radio bug when she was 6 years old when she received her first radio for her birthday. During high school, she would visit the local radio stations and hang out, ask questions and eventually got to voice some commercials. Dana got her first paying gig in 1985 and a full time gig in 1986 when she was hired to do overnights at Top 40 WKCI-FM in New Haven, CT.
After a year doing the graveyard shift, Dana moved to Dayton, Ohio to do nights at Top 40 WYMJ-FM in Dayton, OH. A year later she was promoted to Middays & Music Director and the station enjoyed the highest ratings it had ever achieved in that time slot.
In 1989, Dana moved to Milwaukee to do Middays & Music Director at HOT 102 (WLUM-FM). During Dana’s three years there, the station became the #1 station in Milwaukee, beating the long-time heritage Top 40 station. Dana was one of the Top 5 rated midday air personalities in the market and was well known for having music celebrities on her show. During this time, Dana won some of her first music industry awards including Billboard Magazine Music Director of the Year and Gavin Magazine Music Director of the Year. In 1990, Dana added weekend duties at #1 Top 40 WBBM-FM in Chicago on top of her full time schedule in Milwaukee.
In 1991, Dana moved back to her home state of CT to work at #1 rated WTIC-FM in Hartford. She spent three years back home enjoying life on the station she grew up. The station went through a format change and Dana made the move back to Wisconsin, this time in Madison where she took the Afternoon Drive/Assistant Program Director position at #1 Top 40 WZEE-FM. Dana got the chance to interview artists like Hootie & the Blowfish, Lisa Loeb and one of the very first interviews with the then-unknown Backstreet Boys.
In 2004, Dana auditioned for a TV host position at QVC in their National Open Host search. Out of 1400+ candidates who auditioned, Dana was selected as one of the TOP 24 semi-finalists. Though Dana did not make the final cut, she said it was an amazing experience.
Dana lives with her husband, who is the Commercial Production Director for another radio company in the market and their son, who attends high school.
